Lineup supports a variety of different custom field types, to help you capture data in a variety of different formats, from structured to unstructured.
Short Answer
A basic text field intended for brief responses. This field does not support any formatting.
Long Answer
A text field suitable for extended responses and supports rich text formatting (e.g., bold, italics, bullet points). Ideal for essay-style inputs or detailed feedback.
Number
A field designed to store numeric values. You can specify minimum and maximum values to control the input range.
Dropdown
Also known as a single select field, this option provides a predefined list from which users can select one item. It’s ideal for capturing standardized data for reporting and filtering.
Checkbox
This field lets users select multiple options from a visible list. Best used when the number of choices is limited (typically fewer than 6–7 options).
Multi-Select
A hybrid of dropdown and checkbox fields, this allows users to select multiple items from a dropdown menu. Ideal when there are more than seven options. Users can also filter choices by typing keywords.
Date
Captures a single calendar date. Users select the date using a date picker.
Date Range
Used to capture a start and end date. Suitable for timelines, such as employment periods. The end date can be marked as “Present” if it's ongoing.
Star Rating
Allows users to rate something on a scale from 1 to 5 stars. An additional “Not Applicable” option is available. You can define what each rating means to ensure consistency across responses.
Document
Enables file uploads (maximum size: 10 MB). Files are scanned for viruses before being accepted.
Complex Field
A composite field that includes multiple sub-fields (e.g., text, date, number). Ideal for collecting structured, multi-faceted information. For example, a work experience entry might include job title, company, and date range, and allow for multiple entries.
